Hello Dear BRIDGE Reader,
Life has a way of surprising us. Sometimes, we grasp onto something with the best of intentions—only to realize it wasn’t meant to stay. The question is: Do we keep holding on, or do we release it with curiosity and grace?
This week, I watched our youngest grandson carefully pick up a tiny lizard.
He held it with such gentleness and wonder, studying its every detail. But then—it bit him!
Startled, he dropped it and exclaimed, “He bit me, Mommy!”
For a brief moment, I saw him pause, process, and contemplate. Would he be upset? Would he fear lizards from now on? But instead, with the resilience of a child, he simply moved on, embracing the rest of the day's adventures with
joy.
That tiny bite wasn’t just a reaction—it was a lesson in release. Sometimes, we hold onto things that aren’t meant for us, and life gives us a small nudge (or in this case, a bite) to let go and move forward.
What Does This Have to Do with Emotional Release?
Think of a time when something unexpected happened—maybe a setback, a tough conversation, or a moment of
discomfort.
- Did you hold on tighter, resisting the lesson?
- Did you react with frustration, allowing the moment to shape your mood?
- Or did you, like my grandson, take a breath, process it, and move forward?
Many of us have built a tolerance for discomfort as a way to protect ourselves, rather than leaning into curiosity and trusting the process. But what if the
"bite" is actually a gift? A reminder to release what no longer serves us and make space for what’s next?
🌉 THE BRIDGE: Release & Resilience
This week, let’s practice letting go with curiosity and openness. Try this simple exercise:
The Release & Resilience Activation
1️⃣ Find a Quiet Space – Sit comfortably, close your eyes, and settle into stillness.
2️⃣
Breathe Deeply – Inhale for four counts, hold for four, exhale for four. Repeat.
3️⃣ Reflect on Something You’re Holding Onto – A thought, a fear, a moment that didn’t go as planned.
4️⃣ Imagine Releasing It – Just like the lizard let go when it needed to, visualize yourself opening your hands and setting it free.
5️⃣ Affirm Your Strength – Place your hand on your heart and say, "I trust the process.
I release what no longer serves me."
Take a moment after this practice to notice the shift in your body.
